Interactive Synchronous Distance / Live Interactive Webinar

Date & Time: Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM EST
Format: Hosted in Preferra Learn LMS / Zoom Integrated
Continuing Education: 1.5 CE Ethic Hours
Target Audience: Social Workers
Thousands of social workers advance in their careers by supervising a team, opening a private practice, or overseeing local and national social service agencies. Many serve as contractors, while others hire contractors for specific projects.

Alongside their drive and passion for the profession, they share a common risk: vicarious liability, a fundamental issue that, unfortunately, many have experienced during their social work journey.

This webinar aims to provide social work supervisors, employers, agency leaders, private practitioners, and contractors with critical information to help mitigate the risks associated with vicarious liability.

This 90-minute, live, interactive webinar will provide actionable information and guidance that you can implement immediately in your current practice setting.

Only Attendees of this live webinar will receive CE credit!

Learning Objectives

After the webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the most common scenarios that could lead to vicarious liability or legal allegations towards supervisors, employers, and contractors.
  2. Develop a vicarious liability risk management protocol and distribute it to supervisors, supervisees, department directors, agency management, and contractors.
  3. Create a periodic monitoring method to ensure that key prevention activities, protocols, or documentation are in place and functioning effectively to mitigate vicarious liability.
Course Completion & CE Information
Social workers must attend the entire webinar and complete a course evaluation to receive CE credit.
All states accept ACE providers except New York.

New York does not accept ASWB ACE provider or course/conference approval. Preferra is in the process of applying for approval as a Continuing Education Provider for LMSWs and LCSWs in New York. We anticipate receiving approval in the first semester of 2026.

Even when a social work board accepts courses offering ASWB ACE credit, licensees are responsible for determining whether courses meet the CE requirements in their jurisdictions. States and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether any individual course may be accepted for credit.
