Target Audience: Social Workers
On Tuesday, June 9, 2026 we hosted a 90-minute interactive webinar on grief and risk management.
The vast majority of social workers are fully aware of how grief can affect their clients, friends, family members, and themselves, both personally and professionally. Grief is not only emotional and cognitive; it is also held in the body and nervous system. It can surface as exhaustion, irritability, anxiety, numbness, difficulty concentrating, sleep disruption, physical tension, or a persistent sense of overwhelm. Grief can shift the nervous system into states of survival, leaving individuals feeling emotionally imbalanced, disconnected, or fatigued.
Social workers’ passion for helping others often, and dangerously, leads them to put their own grief aside, wait until they “have time,” cope by staying busy, and consistently place others first. Over time, unprocessed grief held in the body can narrow the nervous system’s capacity for regulation and connection, increasing the risk of burnout, compassion fatigue, mistakes, and emotional exhaustion. Professionals may then find themselves in situations that negatively impact both their personal well-being and professional lives.
Join us for a conversation about grief and the ways it lives within the mind, body, and nervous system. Together, we will explore how to work with grief in ways that support our clients, loved ones, and ourselves, while also establishing safeguards that promote sustainability, resilience, and a healthier professional journey.
This 90-minute, live, interactive webinar will provide actionable information and guidance that you can implement immediately in your current practice setting.

Learning Objectives
After the webinar, participants will be able to:
- Identify personal emotional, cognitive, and somatic manifestations of grief in order to proactively, intentionally, and immediately address them.
- Design a grief-support protocol that incorporates nervous system awareness and somatic strategies while recognizing the personal and professional risks associated with suppressing or avoiding grief.
- Implement grief-informed somatic and self-regulation tools into daily routines, such as breathwork, grounding practices, meditation, movement, nature walks, coloring, and other restorative practices that support nervous system balance and resilience.
